Michael began his IT career in 1985 as an OS/390 COBOL IMS/DB analyst/programmer in Manchester in the United Kingdom. Over the following ten years he gained valuable business analysis skills developing and implementing MRP II based applications on Mainframe and mid-range IBM systems.

In 1995 Michael provided project leadership services to Sun Microsystems while they implemented the MFG/PRO Sales Order Processing and Financial modules on Sun Solaris.

Since 1997 Michael has specialised in Software Configuration Management (SCM). While working for Deutsche Bank in London Michael wrote a bespoke software change management system to manage the evolution of the Banks' back office trading system.

Building on the success of the SCM project for Deutsche Bank Michael moved to Amsterdam in The Netherlands in 1999 where he applied his application build and change management skills to various Oracle projects.

In 2000 Michael worked as a Senior Perl Developer for Information Innovation. He was primarily responsible for producing the rendering engine for generating interactive PDF documents from business intelligence data and presenting the documents via a web portal.

Michael started Illume in August of 2003.

Since the end of 2003 Michael has focused his time and effort in IT on Java related projects. For various clients, including Hewlett Packard and ABN Amro, Michael has created Ant based build and regression [system/unit] test frameworks.

In 2004 When Snowplanet needed specific expertise at short notice to step in and deliver a Customer Management application based on Java/Swing and Oracle, Michael was in a position to offer his time to turn a failing project into a success. Snowplanet, based in Velsen-Zuid, is a leisure industry business that provides ski and snowboard facilities to the public.

Michael lives in The Netherlands with his family. He speaks Dutch and English.
