After graduating in Mathematics and Physics from the University of Exeter in 1984 Paul began his IT career with GEC Avionics as an Assembler level programmer writing flight control software. Two years later he joined the Bristol based software house Avonicom to continue writing flight Control software.

While with Avonicom in 1988 Paul was transferred to Germany to work at the European Space Agency's control centre in Darmstadt Germany where he worked for 10 years designing and writing the ground based control system for several satellites. The control software was initially written in procedural languages but during the 10 years at the agency Paul was part of the team which made the transition to using Object Oriented based technologies.

Since 1996 Paul has specialised in Object Oriented design and implementation. He has worked for many diverse companies including Hewlett Packard, Shell Exploration and Production, Wavetech Wandel and Goltermann and the European Patent Office.

Paul was the senior Object Oriented designer and programmer when Shell Exploration and Production need to migrate their subsurface modelling application software to a parallel processing environment. In the latter part of 2003 and early 2004 Paul worked for Illume with Snowplanet to implement the initial phase of their Customer Relationship Management application written in Java/Swing.

From 2003 until 2006 Paul provided programming support to the Network team at the European Patent Office where he was in a unique position to be involved in all aspects of the international network infrastructure by supporting the specialists in all areas.

Paul is currently working as a senior Java designer at Banctec b.v. providing scanning solutions to banks and other large organisations where form based administration needs to be processed and stored electronically. Paul lives in The Netherlands with his family. He speaks Dutch, German and English.
